This is morman.com. Autumnal.

It feels like winter today.

We should all just accept the fact that Google knows everything...
But gleaning the wheat from the chaff can be arduous.
Fortunately, Blogdex pointed to Googlism this morning.
This silly site skims the cream off the top and returns fortune cookie-like aphorisms.
(How's that for a mixed metaphor?)

But just how clever are the "Googlisms" anyway?
Look what I got when I entered my name:

steve morman is back on his feet and ready to receive your techno
Wow.

So one of the fun tasks I get to do is creating unique automated data feeds for 3rd party media organizations, like weather that is syndicated to some web site.

If our partner is all high-speed and modern, usually I'll just provide them with an XML feed, and they can translate it into whatever format they need.

But sometimes our client needs something that's more turnkey, like an HTML fragment or an applet or an image or a Flash movie.

Today I spent way too much time twisting around data in a small image palette. I think I hurt my brain hacking ImageMagick. Ouch.

Maybe it's just me, but hasn't Alias become beyond impossibly convoluted since Lena Olin appeared?

This is the one television program I watch, so I felt I had to comment.

What the hell is wrong with me? I haven't updated this site in a month. I am a slacker.

What have I been doing with my time, anyway?

I just got back from Airwaves, which just keeps getting better.
The first year was easy to navigate, as there was only one venue: a hanger at the domestic airport.
I went by myself the first year, but met some nice people along the way.
The big highlight that year was seeing GusGus.

The second year was complete chaos; way more people than they were ready to handle, but lots of venues.
Ed and Amy joined me the second year, and they were troopers, despite the whole hotel snafu.
Without a doubt, the best show was Jimi Tenor and Nicole Willis.

The third year was a bit disappointing as people got cold feet after September 11th, but the music was great.
I went with Arah, and she soldiered on through despite a sprained ankle.
Seeing Sigur Rós perform was amazing.

This year was surprisingly well organized with lots of choices.
Again I was by myself, but sometimes it's easier to meet people that way.
My favorite performance from the festival was seeing J-Live.

I plan to go back again for the fifth annual, if they'll let me back into the country.

In game geek news, I've been playing way too much Earth and Beyond these days. I like the special recognition beta-testers get by having a "Founders Federation" logo. Very smart.
